Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Teacher of Humanities to join our Secondary School team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction across Humanities subjects such as History, Geography, and/or Social Studies, and contribute to a vibrant international curriculum.

This role requires familiarity with international programmes, particularly IB, IGCSE, and AP, and a commitment to inquiry-based learning and student-centred teaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons aligned with IB, IGCSE, and/or AP frameworks
  • Foster critical thinking, global awareness, and interdisciplinary understanding
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum development and collaborative planning within the department
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and pastoral care programmes
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in History, Geography, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, teaching licence)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience in secondary education
  • Experience teaching IB (MYP/DP), IGCSE, and/or AP curricula preferred
  • Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centred learning approaches
  • Excellent communication and intercultural skills

Candidates are requested to provide three referees for pre-employment reference check from current and previous employers.  The referees must be the Principal, Head of school or the direct supervisor from the school management team.

General Requirements for International Teaching Positions

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE)
  • Minimum two years’ experience of classroom teaching in mainstream education sector
  • Previous experience of teaching the IB curriculum is preferred, high potential candidates without IB experience might be considered
  • Well-versed in various teaching resources including digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • Sensitivity to the cultural differences
  • A willingness to actively participate in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
