Requirements

5 or more years experience

ISA Liwan is seeking a candidate with at least 5 years teaching experences and at least 2 years MYP Coordinator experiences. Experienced and enthusiastic MYP Coordinator who is passionate about the MYP and models the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.

Role Responsibilities 

Pedagogical Leadership

• Ensure that student voice plays an important part in planning

• Drive inquiry-based teaching and learning

• Ensure that the ATL skills are embedded into the pedagogical approach to teaching and learning

• Ensure that all staff receive the leadership, support, challenge and information necessary to sustain motivation and secure improvement in their teaching

• Promote and support all aspects of the IB philosophy 

 

Team management

• Lead the curriculum leaders & grade level leaders and chair regular meetings throughout the year

• Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and implement professional growth and development models (appraisal and PD)

• Participate in the selection and appointment of staff as guided by the Head of School

• Support and develop MYP network initiatives (such as job-alike)

• Liaise with and support the admissions department for new student applications into the

• Assist and develop the marketing of the school in coordination with the marketing department

• Coordinate and lead whole school events and parent information sessions

• Actively engage and develop intiatives with the IB regional network

 

Strategic Development

• Collaborate as a member of the Senior Leadership team contributing towards the strategic development plan and annual improvement plans

• Support the development and maintenance of relevant school policies and procedures in-line with the IB’s guiding philosophies

• Collaborate with the other IB coordinators to lead on IB authorisation and evaluations

• Contribute to establishing and maintaining strong links with local, regional, and international organisations and communities

• Coordinate and develop, together with the senior leadership team, the professional development goals and objectives leading staff PD and other sessions throughout the year

• Collaborate with the other IB Coordinators to build smooth transitions between the IB phases

• Monitor the quality and effectiveness of liaison between year levels with a view to a seamless transition between the three programmes

• Establish and manage any budgetary requirements to ensure the programme is adequately resourced

 

Curriculum implementation

• Proactively lead in following the requirements of the programme through its implementation cycle

• Ensure that all related staff are fully up to date with all IB requirements and relevant information

• Oversee the development of the MYP

• Coordinate and develop grades 6-10 in accordance with the MYP

• Liaise with colleagues in the elementary and high schools to ensure consistency of approaches to teaching and learning

• Coordinate with the personal project and service action coordinators plus others to ensure that the requirements of the MYP are being met

• Ensure the teachers, parents and students understand and are involved with the philosophy, practicalities and the guiding principles that underpin the MYP

• Communicate with parents at regular intervals and in a practical manner the philosophy and methodology that drive the MYP

 

Teaching and Learning

• Leading by example achieving high standards of learner achievement and motivation through excellent teaching

• Ensure faculty understand and follow the curriculum and share high expectations about the quality of their teaching including lesson planning.

• Support the development of teaching and learning strategies to improve learning outcomes

• In collaboration with the senior leadership team manage the assessment and reporting schedule and oversee the issuing of reports to the learners and parents

• Work with colleagues from the other divisions of the school to establish a coherent transition between ES, MS & HS

• Participate in the scheduling process to ensure that the schedule supports student learning in the MYP

General Requirements for International Teaching Positions

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE)
  • Minimum two years’ experience of classroom teaching in mainstream education sector
  • Previous experience of teaching the IB curriculum is preferred, high potential candidates without IB experience might be considered
  • Well-versed in various teaching resources including digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • Sensitivity to the cultural differences
  • A willingness to actively participate in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
