ISA International Schools in Guangzhou are seeking a Deputy Principal of Secondary (Pastoral Care) for the academic year 2026-2027.

This role is one of leadership and coordination and all tasks should be read as being in liaison with colleagues and members of the teaching faculty, the other Coordinators and Deputy Principals. 

 

The DP Pastoral Care will join with the other Deputy Principals, the Head of the Academic Centre and the Head of Student Support Services to form the Secondary Senior Leadership Team under the leadership of the Principal.

 

 

The DP Pastoral Care will join with the other Deputy Principals, the Head of the Academic Centre and the Head of Student Support Services to form the Secondary Senior Leadership Team under the leadership of the Principal.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Education or related field

- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a secondary school setting

- Strong understanding and experience with the IB Diploma Programme curriculum

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively

- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development

Key responsibilities of the Deputy Principal of Secondary (Pastoral Care)  include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Lead the pastoral care management of the Secondary School under the guidance of the Head of School.

-Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school culture in line with IB values and the school’s mission

-Develop and review pastoral care policies and procedures to ensure they meet legal, ethical, and IB standards. Ensure consistent application of policies related to student welfare, safeguarding, and discipline.

-Develop and coordinate an effective induction program for new students to engage with our culture and become familiar with our processes and procedures.

-Identify and organize training and development opportunities for staff related to pastoral care, student well-being, and safeguarding. 

-Stay informed of current best practices and research in pastoral care and student support.

-Ensure that pastoral programs comply with the standards and requirements of the IB and other accrediting bodies.

- Establishing effective communication and linkage mechanisms with the school service center, student affairs office, and parents' committee to ensure students' health, safety, and well-being.

-coordinate the promotion of our pastoral program wherever possible, including the Parent College, marketing events, the school newsletter, publications and assemblies
