The main role of all teachers is to maximize student learning and development through the planning, preparation, and teaching of the curriculum to meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers guide a range of student abilities and are accountable for the effective delivery of their curriculum.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)
1. Ensure that all teaching is delivered in an effective manner, using agreed strategies as well as appropriate technology to maximise learning progress in all subjects, for all students.
2. Be responsible for student performance and behaviour within classes, and when supporting children and colleagues in other areas.
3. Ensure lessons are engaging, motivational and can deliver the planned learning objectives.
4. Be mindful that all ISASC teachers are responsible for student language acquisition, appropriate to age and current language proficiency of each individual.
5. Create a safe, caring, professional and creative learning environment.
6. Aim for excellence through the promotion and adoption of ISA School curriculum and behaviour policies and expectations.
7. Use relevant performance measures and assessment data, in line with school policy and guidelines, to support student attainment and achievement.
8. Sustain the quality of education offered through setting the expectation of high standards for all.
9. Be proactive and responsible for maintaining ongoing personal professional development through school, departmental and personal growth objectives.
10. Deliver effective teaching that demonstrates effective behaviour and classroom management, in alignment with school policies.
11 Contribute effectively to team collaborative planning, and the creation and use of resources.
12. Offer effective co-ordination of school activities where relevant.
13. Deliver effective teaching and learning progress to demonstrate the professional expectations of the School’s Teacher Growth Planning Policy and Teacher Standards.
14. Foster a caring atmosphere and showing commitment to the well-being and social and academic progress of each student.
15. Acting in accordance with relevant legislation in the PRC and Guangzhou, particularly with regards to educational provision, health and safety initiatives and safeguarding and ensure that all students and staff maintain these standards.
Other Duties
1. Demonstrate values and integrity that align with the schools vision and mission.
2. Demonstrate awareness and understanding of current school policies and approach to Safeguarding, Child Protection and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
3. Actively participate in all school events and activities of the school as required.
4. Participate in performance reviews and assessments as required.
5. Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, and that of others, follow any reasonable instruction given by the school, and report and concern(s) which may give rise to danger, and/or any injury which may occur in the workplace.
6. Be aware that all teachers may be required to undertake cover lessons as required by the school.
7. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior leaders of the school
Minimum Typical Experience
1. University degree and a recognised qualification (such as PGCE) with a major in Physical Education.
2. Ideally with over 2 years of EY to G5 teaching experience, ideally with experience of the IB PYP.
3. Experience of implementing a range of pedagogical techniques, with a demonstrable track-record of innovation in teaching and learning
4. Recent experience of managing students from a variety of cultures and commitment to issues of equity and working with culturally diverse families
5. Curriculum development knowledge.
7. Be inter-culturally aware with well-developed interpersonal skills.
8. Be committed to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
9. Be collaborative and able to work as part of a team.
10. Able to work positively and effectively with students and parents, outside agencies and colleagues
