ISA Science City International School is a world IB school providing a balanced education affording the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth of all students aged 2 to 18. We are seeking experienced and passionate educator for the position of University Guidance Counsellor.

The University Guidance Counsellor will collaborate with a team of counsellors to deliver a comprehensive counselling programme to students in grades 9-12, addressing their  academic, university, and career development needs. The role involves close coordination with parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure tailored support for each student.

 

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

● Be fully responsible for the overall academic planning and university, college application guidance 

● Guide students on course selection according to their academic level, curriculum, graduation requirements and college planning

● Maintain communication with students and parents to provide guidance before and after undergraduate study abroad

● Teach university, college counselling courses and ensure high teaching quality

● Keep close communication with subject teachers and homeroom teachers in student development

● Participate in / develop / implement / participate in school activities or after-school activities related to subject

● Summarize and analyze the student longitudinal data according to the requirements of the school

● Assist and participate in school marketing activities and planning, program promotion, and so on

● Perform the assigned responsibilities according to the requirements of the school

● To translate for parent teacher consultations as required

● Any other job or function given to you by the person to whom you report

 

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

● Bachelor’s degree from a highly selective university (e.g., U.S. Top 30, U.K. G5 for candidates with more than 2 years of experience).

● Preferred: Master’s degree in Counselling, Education, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., ASCA, IACAC).

 

Experience:

● Minimum 2 years of experience in university guidance, preferably in an international school setting.

● Demonstrated connections with university admissions offices worldwide.

● Expertise in international curricula (IB, AP, A-Level) and application procedures across major destinations (U.S., U.K., Canada, etc.).

 

Skills & Competencies:

● Language: Native or near-native English proficiency; bilingual (English/Chinese) is a plus.

● Technical: Advanced Microsoft Office skills; adept at data analysis and digital tools for counselling.

● Interpersonal: Exceptional communication, cultural sensitivity, and ability to thrive in a multicultural environment.

● Organizational: Strong time management, innovation-driven, and service-oriented mindset.

General Requirements for International Teaching Positions

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE)
  • Minimum two years’ experience of classroom teaching in mainstream education sector
  • Previous experience of teaching the IB/A-Level curriculum is preferred, high potential candidates without IB/A-Level experience might be considered
  • Well-versed in various teaching resources including digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • Sensitivity to the cultural differences
  • A willingness to actively participate in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
