ISA Liwan International School has a vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic Teacher of Early Years. Experience with IB PYP and UK EYFS is advantageous. This ideal candidate will be a passionate teacher who enjoys collaborating with colleagues.

Pedagogy

1. Inquire-based and play-based teaching approaches in early years 
2. Apply age-appropriate strategies throughout teaching 
3. Actively incorporate strategies that meet the different developmental needs of all learners 
4. Provide learning opportunities to encourage independence, imagination, and creativity 
5. Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning and 
support 
6. Effectively engage in a wide range of assessment strategies to monitor and track progress in the focus developmental area 

Curriculum Implementation 
 

1. Demonstrate a high-level understanding of relevant curriculum knowledge 
2. Ability to independently design teaching activities for different age group according to the school curriculum 
3. Design transdisciplinary lessons with other teachers in line with the designed curriculum and defined objectives 
4. Contribute to the collaborative development of well-defined learning goals and curriculum resources 
5. Assess learners in accordance with exam board requirements and departmental policies in line with the school assessment policy

2.  Create safe and engaging environment for young learners to explore

Pastoral Care
1. Actively engage in supporting the well-being of learners 
2. Liaise with pastoral leaders and the school counsellor in accordance with the school’s 
policies and procedures 
3. Participate in pastoral curriculum planning and collaborating with colleagues in the development of the pastoral care programme 
4. Support children to find their potentials and values 
5. Maintain the health and safety of all students 

 Other Duties & Responsibilities
1. Cover for absent colleagues as required 
2. Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending trainings 
3. Actively participate in the supervision of the learners following the school’s duty rota 
4. Cooperate to ensure effective use of resources and spaces for the benefit of the school and learners 
5. Follow the required data protection procedures stated by Chinese Law and the school data protection policy 
6. To carry out other duty as may be reasonably required by the Head of School, Section Principal or respective IB Coordinator

Candidates are requested to provide three referees for pre-employment reference check from current and previous employers.  The referees must be the Principal, Head of school or the direct supervisor from the school management team.

General Requirements for International Teaching Positions

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE)
  • Minimum two years’ experience of classroom teaching in mainstream education sector
  • Previous experience of teaching the IB curriculum is preferred, high potential candidates without IB experience might be considered
  • Well-versed in various teaching resources including digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • Sensitivity to the cultural differences
  • A willingness to actively participate in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
