Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in related major
  • A teaching qualification that is recognized by China
  • Minimum of 2 years’ full-time teaching experience with high school students, with MYP, IGCSE, ALevel, AP or IBDP relevant teaching experience preferred
  • Experience in competition coaching is preferred
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

 

Role Responsibilities

 

Pedagogy

  • Use inquiry-based teaching to stimulate students' interest and initiative in learning
  • Focus on conceptual understanding to support students in developing ideas and taking actions
  • Use local and global contexts to establish the relevance of the curriculum
  • Focus on effective teamwork and collaboration
  • Provide differentiated learning experiences to meet the needs of all learners
  • Use diverse assessment approaches to improve teaching and learning
  • Use information technology to aid and extend learning and teaching

 

Curriculum Implementation

  • Engage with the construction, implementation and refinement of related subject curriculum
  • Contribute to the construction, implementation and development of relevant programme curriculum
  • Participate in collaborative planning organized by subject group
  • Be responsible with all the subject-specific planning, teaching, learning, assessing tasks according to the requirement of the curriculum
  • Be committed to effective assessment to inform instruction and provide constructive feedback based on the school assessment policy.

Pastoral Care

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to SEN (special education needs) of learners
  • Contribute to co-curriculum, including clubs and summer/winter camps
  • Contribute to relevant competition coaching
  • Contribute to students’ academic planning and university application process, and write recommendation letters if required
  • Contribute, where required, to marketing activities
  • Cover for absent colleagues as required
  • Actively participate in the supervision of the learners following the school’s duty rota
  • Prepare and present informative reports to parents and required stakeholders in line with the school’s reporting policy
  • Follow the required data protection procedures stated by Chinese Law and the school data protection policy
  • Carry out other duties or responsibilities allocated by the school

General Requirements for International Teaching Positions

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE)
  • Minimum two years’ experience of classroom teaching in mainstream education sector
  • Previous experience of teaching the IB curriculum is preferred, high potential candidates without IB experience might be considered
  • Well-versed in various teaching resources including digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • Sensitivity to the cultural differences
  • A willingness to actively participate in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
