We are seeking experienced and passionate educator for the position of Primary Homeroom to start from August 2024

Job Summary:ISA International School-Science City is seeking passionate educators who are committed to delivering outstanding learning opportunities. The main role of all teachers is to maximize student learning and development through the planning, preparation and teaching of the curriculum to meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers guide a range of student abilities and are accountable for the effective delivery of their curriculum. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection in order to improve their knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning.

Classroom and subject teachers assume roles beyond the classroom in endeavouring to maximize students’ learning. These roles include working collaboratively with colleagues and other members of the school community, and communicating with parents and care-givers.

The classroom teacher’s contribution to the school goes beyond the classroom. They participate in the development of the school policies and programmes and assist in the implementation of school priorities. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their teaching duties.

 

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Plan, deliver and develop outstanding teaching and learning, within a leading IB school in China.
  • Support the values, vision and ethos of ISA Science City.
  • Ensuring the creativity and high quality of teaching and learning of the class, assisted by a teaching assistant.
  • Sharing responsibilities for curriculum development, display, performances, trips and organising some aspects of special events.
  • Fostering a caring atmosphere and showing commitment to the well-being and social and academic progress of each pupil.
  • Acting in accordance with relevant legislation in the PRC and Guangzhou, particularly with regards to educational provision, health and safety initiatives and safeguarding and ensure that all students and staff maintain these standards.
  • Set and maintaining high standards of service throughout the school.

 

Other Duties

  • Demonstrate values and integrity that align with the schools vision and mission.
  • Align with school policy related to child protection, safety, duty of care, and privacy.
  • Actively participate in all school events and activities of the school as required.
  • Participate in performance reviews and assessments as required.
  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, and that of others, follow any reasonable instruction given by the school, and report and concern(s) which may give rise to danger, and/or any injury which may occur in the workplace.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior leaders of the school
  • Educational & Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications (required).

 

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university, major in Education.
  • PGCE or appropriate teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in an international education environment.
  • Experience within an education start-up environment may be advantageous.
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Independent and well-structured working style with a hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Service-oriented, ability to learn quickly and no stranger to fast pace of work.
  • Good planning and organizing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with team spirit, intercultural awareness and openness for an international environment in a Chinese landscape.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural community.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to build trust, foster innovation, deliver high quality work.
  • High level of integrity.
  • A good sense of humour and able to maintain perspective during times of workplace intensity.

 

Professional Development: All teaching staff are expected to continually engage in professional learning and development to improve teaching knowledge and practices through their Teacher Growth Plans.

General Requirements for International Teaching Positions

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE)
  • Minimum two years’ experience of classroom teaching in mainstream education sector
  • Previous experience of teaching the IB/A-Level curriculum is preferred, high potential candidates without IB/A-Level experience might be considered
  • Well-versed in various teaching resources including digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • Sensitivity to the cultural differences
  • A willingness to actively participate in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
