University Guidance Counselor

Major Responsibilities  

1. Be fully responsible for the overall academic planning and university/ college application guidance 
2. Guide students on course selection according to their academic level, curriculum, graduation requirements and college planning
3. Maintain communication with students and parents to provide guidance before and after undergraduate study abroad
4. Teach university/college counselling courses and ensure high teaching quality
5. Keep close communication with subject teachers and homeroom teachers in student development
6. Participate in / develop / implement / participate in school activities or after-school activities related to subject
7. Summarize and analyze the student longitudinal data according to the requirements of the school
8. Assist and participate in school marketing activities and planning, program promotion, and so on
9. Perform the assigned responsibilities according to the requirements of the school
10. Any other job or function given to you by the person to whom you report

Key Requirements     

1. University degree and a recognised qualification (such as PGCE or Secondary Education) 
2. High command of English level.
3. Minimum of 2 years of related experience in Secondary Years education, ideally with experience in an international educational setting.     
4. Experience in teaching second language learners.    
5. Strong knowledge and/or experience and/or enthusiasm to teach in the IB MYP/DP curriculum framework.     
6. Curriculum development knowledge.
7. Be inter-culturally aware with well-developed interpersonal skills.     
8. Be committed to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.     
9. Be collaborative and able to work as part of a team.

General Requirements for International Teaching Positions

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE)
• Minimum two years’ experience of classroom teaching in mainstream education sector
• Previous experience of teaching the IB/A-Level curriculum is preferred, high potential candidates without IB/A-Level experience might be considered
• Well-versed in various teaching resources including digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
• Sensitivity to the cultural differences
• A willingness to actively participate in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
