Head of Science

We are looking for an outstanding candidate who can lead by example to inspire an expanding curriculum area to take our IGCSE and A level Science provision to the next level. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are able to work collaboratively to embed systems, drive standards and to have the vision to move the curriculum team forward.    

Key Areas of Responsibility

• To provide strong leadership to the Science Faculty;
• To observe, assess and to drive forward the quality of teaching and learning across the Science Faculty;
• To lead the development of the Science curriculum in accordance with the needs of the school and examining body requirements;
• To ensure that the Professional Review and Development Framework is fully implemented across the Faculty;
• To record and analyse student test/exam data as a basis for monitoring and driving forward student achievement;
• To ensure complete and consistent implementation of policy standards across the Faculty;
• To employ appropriate strategies for classroom management and to support colleagues in order to ensure consistency and effectiveness across the Faculty;
• To put in place strategies to promote the English policy across the Faculty;
• To set appropriate performance targets for students and to track progress of students across the Faculty;
• Contribute to the overall curriculum planning of the School including attending Heads of Faculty meetings.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a science subject

• A recognized teaching qualification  (e.g. B.Ed., PGCE)
• Minimum of five years’ teaching experience at secondary age range
• Native-level English speaker
• Experience of leading and mentoring staff;
• A highly talented practitioner of your subject;
• A commitment to the holistic development of students through involvement in co-curricular and pastoral activities;
• Respect for the different experiences, ideas and cultural perspectives that are at the heart of an international school;
• The ability to adjust to a new cultural environment;
• The ability to establish good working relationships with a wide range of people including students, parents, and colleagues.

Contract type:                         Full Time, Two Years (Renewable)
