Malvern College Qingdao are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Computer Science and ICT.

The successful candidate will have the positive outlook to thrive on the rewards and challenges of working in a growing British curriculum boarding school in China and will make a strong contribution to the holistic education of our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated Computing curriculum for students.
  • Teach both ICT and Computer Science throughout Malvern College Qingdao (L4 – U6), KS3, KS4, KS5.
  • The ability/experience to teach the IGCSE and A Level curriculums
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience, which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
  • Share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
  • Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to  students’  needs  in  order  to  inspire,  motivate  and  challenge students.
  • Use an appropriate range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies as a basis for setting challenging learning objectives for students of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions, monitoring learners’ progress and levels of attainment.
  • Support to develop and refine the Computing curriculum to ensure that the curriculum area provides a range of teaching which is relevant to the needs of students and examining and awarding bodies

Key Requirements

  • Holder of Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, ICT or equivalent
  • Previous experience of teaching ICT or Computer Science
  • Knowledge of the particular difficulties faced by EAL students

The successful candidate will also contribute to the development and delivery of the College’s vision and values. They will be a supportive member of the departmental team and the whole school staff and help ensure the success of Malvern College Qingdao as a leading independent, international school in China. The successful candidate will be expected to work in line with School and Departmental policies and will report to the Head of Department and be ultimately responsible to the Headmaster.

A willingness to take on House staff responsibilities in addition to your teaching role would be an advantage. Please indicate in your application statement if you would be willing to take on these duties and how your experience to date might support your application in this area.
