Recruitment Information for International Candidates (.pdf format)

Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) is a thriving international, day and boarding school, with state-of-the-art facilities set in beautiful Malaysian countryside, an hour’s drive south of Kuala Lumpur.

The School was established in 1991 and now caters for more than 1,000 students aged 3 to 19, 85% of whom are Malaysian and 60% of whom are boarders. The Primary School follows the English national curriculum in mathematics and literacy, alongside the International Primary Curriculum; while the Secondary School prepares students for IGCSEs and A Levels. Most students go on to study at UK universities.

We are seeking highly-motivated and experienced individuals to lead Naquiyuddin House (boys, Years 9-13) and Jawahir House (girls, Years 9-13) through the next stage in their development. Both houses have been refurbished within the last year and have had the current houseparent in place for 11 and 15 years respectively. All houseparents are also teachers in the School and so the ability to offer a relevant subject, preferably to A Level, is required. An attractive salary and benefits package is available, which includes accommodation for the houseparent and his/her family and heavily-discounted fees for school-aged children.

KTJ is a friendly and supportive environment for students and staff alike. More information on the School, living in Malaysia and conditions for international staff can be found in our publication, International Staff Recruitment Brochure (available on the vacancies page of our website). A job description and person specification for the role are available at the same location. The opportunity for a confidential discussion about the role is available with the Director of Boarding on request. Please contact Ms. Lina Holden (linaholden@ktj.edu.my) to make an appointment.

In keeping with Malaysian visa requirements, candidates must be at least 25 years of age.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to security vetting.

Contact details of two referees, one of whom should be your current headteacher, must be included. The closing date for applications is Monday 11 February 2019.
