Recruitment Information for International Candidates (.pdf format)

Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) is a thriving international, day and boarding school, with state-of-the-art facilities set in beautiful Malaysian countryside, an hour’s drive south of Kuala Lumpur. The School was established in 1991 and now caters for more than 1,000 students aged 3 to 19.

The Primary School follows the English national curriculum in mathematics and literacy, alongside the International Primary Curriculum; while the Secondary School prepares students for IGCSEs and A Levels. Most students go on to study at UK universities.

We are looking for an inspirational, highly-motivated and experienced teacher to lead the English Department in the Secondary School through the next stage in its development. In return, we can offer dedicated and creative colleagues and enthusiastic and capable students, supported by excellent resources.

The nine teachers in the English Department are housed in their own set of classrooms and make good use of a new school library, which was opened in 2016. The department currently teaches CIE IGCSE English Language (First and Second Language), CIE IGCSE English Literature and CIE A Level English Literature. The School has a strong EAL provision and the Head of English is expected to work closely with the head of that department, which has its own set of teachers.

KTJ is a friendly and supportive environment for students and staff alike. More information on the School, living in Malaysia and conditions for international teachers can be found in our publication, Recruitment Information for International Candidates (available on the vacancies page of our website).

In keeping with Malaysian visa requirements, candidates must be at least 25 years of age.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to security vetting.

Contact details of two referees, one of whom should be your current headteacher, must be included.
