We are looking for a Classroom teacher for a maternity cover, this is a full time position.

 

The International School of The Hague is a highly successful, innovative and energetic semipublic school located on the edge of the city of The Hague, near Kijkduin.

The entire school currently has 1900 students and hosts over 85 nationalities with teachers from around the world. The school is divided into Primary and Secondary with a Principal for each section.

The Primary School was established in 2003 and became the first school in the world to be accredited at “Mastering” level by the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The Primary School was also the first international school in The Netherlands to receive the Excellente School status from the Dutch Inspection of Education. We now have more than 640 pupils on roll.

We currently have a vacancy for:

  • Primary Classroom Teacher         - Full time: 1.0 fte (40 hours,  Monday-Friday)

Please note, this is a maternity cover from 7 January up to 19 July 2019.

There is a high possibility that there will be teacher vacancies in the following schoolyear 2019/2020 and thus employment can be continued within our school.

Classroom teachers within our School work closely together in year group teams planning collaboratively with their colleagues to teach all subjects, with the exception of Dutch, P.E. and Music, which specialist teachers teach. We welcome applications from teachers qualified to teach across the Primary age range, including Early Years.

The position are based on the Dutch collective labor agreement (CAO PO) for primary education, Scale L10. Scaling will take place depending on relevant background and experience. The contract offered to the successful applicant will be a temporary one due of a maternity cover. The maximum L10 scale is 15 and this is gross Eur 3.875,- per month based on a full time FTE.

The successful applicant:

  • has a Bachelor in Primary Education or PGCE plus QTS (or equivalent)
  • applicants from the UK needs to have their QTS and induction, or are exempted from induction
  • preferably has experience with or knowledge of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC);has the ability to speak and write in English at a near native level;
  • has experience with teaching children from the age of 4 - 12 years old;
  • is able to develop and adapt the curriculum and lesson plans to meet the changing needs of the children;
  • is flexible, and has good time management and is capable of dealing with the varied aspects of the job.

Qualifications

Please know that in order to work for us, you must be a fully qualified teacher in accordance with the standards required by the Dutch Education Authorities (DUO). Successful candidates require: 

  • For all applicants to ISH Primary, a Bachelors Degree will suffice to be considered. However, all ISH Secondary applicants will need a Bachelor plus a Masters Level qualification in Education. 
  • For applicants from the UK, you will have completed the PGCE and been awarded QTS plus successful completion of the NQT induction year.
  • For all applicants to ISH Secondary, your qualifications at either Bachelor or Masters level must also clearly indicate the subject that you are applying to teach in, in order to be recognised by DUO.
