The successful candidate will join our dynamic Learning Support team to support the learning of children who require specific learning support in different areas (curricular and behavior). The support either takes place within the classroom or in small withdrawal groups.

 

 

The International School of The Hague is a highly successful, innovative and energetic semi-public school located on the edge of the city of The Hague, near Kijkduin.

The entire school currently has 1900 students and hosts over 99 nationalities with teachers from around the world. The school is divided into Primary and Secondary with a Principal for each section.

The Primary School was established in 2003 and became the first school in the world to be accredited at “Mastering” level by the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The Primary School was also the first international school in The Netherlands to receive the Excellente School status from the Dutch Inspection of Education. We now have more than 640 pupils on roll.

We currently have a vacancy for:

  • Learning Support Teacher      (Primary education teacher LA)
  • Part time: :  0.6 fte
  • Start date: 1-8-2018

 

The successful candidate will join our dynamic Learning Support team to support the learning of children who require specific learning support in different areas (curricular and behavior). The support either takes place within the classroom or in small withdrawal groups.

Relevant experience and qualifications in the teaching/supporting of Learning Support students is essential.

Candidates should have a valid Primary teaching qualification (e.g QTS and induction) and a specialism in Special Needs (Interne Begeleider) and should be eligible to work and have a residence in the European Union.

The position is based on the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Primary Education. Scaling depends on the relevant background and experience. This position is scaled in the LA scale. The maximum LA scale is 15 and this is gross EUR 3.482,- per month based on a full time FTE.

The contract offered to the successful applicant will be for one year. After one year, a permanent contract will be offered after obtaining a Dutch teaching qualification and if there are no limitations in performance.

Qualifications

Please know that in order to work for us, you must be a fully qualified teacher in accordance with the standards required by the Dutch Education Authorities (DUO). Successful candidates require: 

  • For all applicants to ISH Primary, a Bachelors Degree will suffice to be considered. However, all ISH Secondary applicants will need a Bachelor plus a Masters Level qualification in Education. 
  • For applicants from the UK, you will have completed the PGCE and been awarded QTS plus successful completion of the NQT induction year.
  • For all applicants to ISH Secondary, your qualifications at either Bachelor or Masters level must also clearly indicate the subject that you are applying to teach in, in order to be recognised by DUO.
